Matt started making cheesecakes in 2017 at the end of his college career in attempt to woo a girl (it didn't work out but the cake did!). Over the years, he has developed the recipe alongside Joey, even going as far as experimenting with Sous Vide and making a S'mores themed smoked cheesecake.
Matt is an educator at Fort Wayne Community Schools and works at Amp Lab at Electric Works as a business teacher for high school students who want to start their own business. During his free time he enjoys cooking, baking, golfing and taking care of his dog, Winston, and cat, Murdock.
Co-Owner
Joey started making cheesecakes soon after Matt, helping develop what we are selling today. After moving back to Fort Wayne from Charleston, South Carolina, he began helping experiment with cheesecakes. After years of convincing Matt to co-open this business together, he created a business plan and set the wheels in motion.
Joey is a Senior IT Technician at Avalign Technologies. He and his wife have two beautiful children together. During his free time he enjoys cooking, watching movies in his home theater, playing board/video games, and golfing with Matt.
Opening in 2026, the Dessert Jar has been years in the making. We have made cheesecakes for friends, families and co-workers and heard the same thing time and time again: "you should sell these!"
So... we are! As we build this business together we thank you for the support, whether we have seen you at the Farmer's Market or you've taken interest in letting us cater your dessert!
